Paver driveway rebuild

I have had two paver driveways redone to accommodate the growth of existing trees. Fidel and crew did beautiful work. They completely pulled up the pavers, reconfigured the level, and placed every paver back with great care. I can’t recommend this company enough for their great work.

We had Western Paver and Design redo our backyard, including a retaining wall and extending our patio to create more usable outdoor space and it turned out absolutely perfect! It’s been two years since the project was completed, and everything still looks exactly like the day it was finished. Wonderful experience working with Western Paver Design! Austin was very helpful with the entire process from quote through final walk through until we checked all the boxes. German and his team were hardworking, friendly, and skilled. German’s craftsmanship and design aesthetic really shined with a custom latching gate under the deck, framed lattice panels, and the picture framing on the deck. Love the permeable pavers to help with my drainage issues and all the quality materials and construction. This is a major upgrade to my house and I’m pleased with the investment. Artificial turf

We are so happy with are new artificial turf lawn. We always had problems with keeping our lawn green over the years as the sun hits it all day long. Joe suggested artificial turf, explained the process, and showed us a sample of the product. His crew showed up on time, and worked really hard at making sure we were happy with everything. Herringbone paver driveway

Our neighbors redid their driveway recently, and it was so beautiful we asked them who they used. It was Western Paver Design. So we gave them a call and Dan Mackenzie along with Roger and his team came out to our place, demoed our driveway and walkway, and installed a beautiful paver herringbone design. 80 ft retaining wall

Western Paver Design just replaced roughly 80 feet of retaining wall. They did an excellent job. They actually over built it. It’s twice as sturdy/stable as the prior one and I’m pretty sure that it could even withstand an earthquake. The finish design is very nice and they clean everything up and are extremely respectful of the property.

Round and Square Fire Pits

Our fire pits are built from the same block and stone as the patio around them, in round and square shapes, with the cap and color matched to your pavers. Some burn wood. Others are fitted with a gas burner and a bed of glass or river rock, which gives you a fire at the turn of a valve with no ash to clean up.

We'll talk through which suits how you'll use it, and where it should sit so smoke, overhangs and neighbors aren't a problem.

Seat Walls and a Base Built to Last

A curved seat wall around a fire pit means there's always somewhere to sit, and no chairs to haul out or store. It also gives a sloped yard a clean edge. Underneath it all, we build the base first: excavated, compacted crushed rock, graded so water moves away from the house.

Our installers are ICPI and CMHA certified, and Western Paver Design is a Belgard Authorized Contractor. Fire pits and fireplaces carry a 1-year warranty on workmanship, and manufacturer warranties are handled case by case.

Fire Pit and Outdoor Fireplace FAQs

Can you build a fire pit on my existing paver patio?

Often, yes. We look at the patio's base, the paver you have and where the fire pit would sit, then tell you whether it can be built in or whether a section needs to be rebuilt first. On a new patio, we build the fire pit into the design from the start.

Should I choose a gas or wood-burning fire pit?

Wood gives you crackle and smoke, and needs a clear area around it and ash cleanup. Gas lights instantly, burns clean and works well closer to the house, but it needs a fuel source. We'll go over both at your design consultation and plan the fire pit around the one you choose.

Are fire pits allowed in the Portland area?

Rules differ by city and fire district, and burn bans can apply during dry months. Recreational fires usually have distance and fuel requirements as well. It's worth checking with your local fire authority before you settle on a location, and we'll plan the placement with those limits in mind.

Can you add seating around a fire pit?

Yes. A curved seat wall is one of our most requested additions. It's built from block that matches the fire pit, gives everyone a place to sit and can double as a low retaining wall on a sloped yard. We can also leave open space for your own outdoor furniture.

Can a fire feature be part of an outdoor kitchen?

Yes. We build fire pits and fireplaces alongside outdoor kitchens and grills, often in matching stone, so cooking, dining and the fire share one space. Planning them together also lets us run lighting and other utilities once rather than cutting into a finished patio later.

What warranty comes with a fire pit or fireplace?

Outdoor kitchens, fire pits and fireplaces carry a 1-year warranty on workmanship. The manufacturer's warranty is based on each manufacturer's terms and is handled case by case. See our warranty page for the terms on each service.
